| How We Got Started: |
| Garrett Tillotson, a business school student at UNC-Chapel Hill at the time, started TreeTop Apparel during his junior year. As a student, Garrett needed a flexible work schedule that wouldn't interfere with his classes. He started doing outside sales for local companies - first a trophy shop and then a screen printer. |
| After a few years, he built a small website to make product information available to his local clients on the Internet. He spent a little money to advertise the site online and took his first order for 300 t-shirts from a client in Alaska that same week. Garrett was excited (this was back when dot com's were still cool), so he filed for a business license and has been serving the online market almost exclusively ever since. |
